Devon-based bright-young-thing of the folk scene Seth Lakeman has another accolade to add to the Mercury nomination a few years ago and numerous folk award prizes and nominations, as it has been announced that the University of Plymouth is to give him an honorary Doctor of Music degree, in well-deserved recognition of his achievement and of his promotion of local culture.
In other Seth-related news: following on from his 2008 headline at the Malawi-based Lake of Stars festival, which raises funds for micro-finance projects, Seth will be performing a fundraiser for the event this year at the The Quarterhouse in Folkestone this Saturday, the 12th September.
